On Wednesday, 8th of July, at 5:30am we left for our road trip down south. We navigated through crazy Seattle around 7:30am and then headed to Astoria.
The huge bridge crossing from Washington to Astoria in Oregon.
At the Astoria Column. See the bridge in the background!
Feeding a tame bird.
We then went on a trolley along the bay. The little girls both got to ring the bell!
Dinner was fish and chips prepared in this cute boat! Was delicious!
We then needed somewhere to camp. The state park was full so we searched for a church. After a word with the pastor, he happily allowed us to stay. We slept well and the next morning, headed off for Cannon Beach.
Our campsite for night. The sign says Father to the Fatherless and I added A home for the homeless!
And here we are at Cannon Beach. To kick off our thongs (flip flops) and dig our toes in the sand was just a wonderful feeling! Especially for those of us who haven't experienced that since leaving Australia nearly two years ago!
Mum looking very relaxed and enjoying herself immensely!
From there we headed off to Tillamook Cheese Factory.
And we couldn't leave without buying a delicious icecream!
From there we made a bit of a detour and headed inland to McMinnville to the Evergreen Space and Aviation Museum. However, we first camped at Walmart! No complaints here!
The next morning we headed for the museum. Specifically we went to see the 'Spruce Goose'. Google it for more info!
The spruce goose!
We have a bit of a fascination for Airstream trailers. They are silver and seem to look unfinished! And then we saw an Airstream RV! We had a good laugh!
That night we stayed at the casino! It was the best free RV park ever! We had 24 hour security, free dump and water, and free wifi! Couldn't get better than that! The casino was about a 5 minute walk away. Just to check it out, we had a walk through but we were very glad to walk out again.
Can you spot our RV?
The two little princesses fast asleep!
Someone is VERY relaxed!
The following day we headed for the sea lion caves just before Florence.
For the Sunday we stayed in Crescent City in California and listened to two sermons. After dinner, we went for a long beach walk and walked in the waves and the girls picked shells and just loved being at the beach!
On Monday we continued our way to the Redwood Forrest.
Since we couldn't drive the RV through the tree, we walked up to the tree and had a photo in front of it!
Here is the tallest tree (or at least one of the tallest!)
The majestic tall redwoods lining the roadside!
The following day we headed out east to Yosemite National Park, however, that will be Part 2!
We are very thankful for the wonderful time we are having and for the traveling blessings we have experienced so far. We have a wonderful Creator and His creation is amazing!
Thanks for popping past!
