Birch Bay, Houweling 'Blitz' and 4th of July celebrations!

Time to update again before I really fall behind! The weather has been unusually hot so any way to cool off is very welcome! Sprinklers and paddle pools were a bit hit with the kids. Standing in front of a fan, was a relief for the adults!

The corn is growing and all well beyond the knee high desirability by 4th of July. But with the hot weather, and real lack of rain, the crops sure look dry and thirsty!

One afternoon, we headed out to Birch Bay for dinner and to watch the sunset. It was a very pleasant evening!

Some Houweling relatives were over from Holland so we had a Houweling 'blitz' at Hester and Bill's.  Since we can't go over the border, it was good to meet up with everyone again.

Jacob and Taleesha in the paddle pool.

After dinner, Bill employed his weapon of ignition to get the fire going!

On the 4th of July, we went to the Willis' for dinner and firework displays! Very patriotic!

And in the pool again!

And once it got dark, we had fireworks. And we had lots! With the very dry weather, fire from sparks was very real. Hoses and buckets of water were on standby and we also had a fire spotter. At one point, a fire did start which once spotted, was quickly doused.

And just before our month long intended road trip, we had dinner with very good friends, Rick and Janice! We had Thai dinner which was delicious, and the company was even better! Thanks for a great evening guys!

And the happy couple! (pst...they were also celebrating a wedding anniversary!)

On Wednesday, we hope to go on to Oregon, California and Arizona to see the sights. All being well, the next update will be pics of our trip!

Thanks for looking!
