Summer Road Trip Part 3!

We are now entering our third week on the road. Our next stop was Pismo Beach. We stayed here for two nights and unfortunately, it wasn't really hot :(. However, we braved the cold and were determined to swim in the ocean. Initially it was a bit cold, but once in, you quickly got used to it. Although, it wasn't really a swimming beach either with the waves constantly crashing on the shore.

Just before coming to Pismo Beach, we came across the home of the elephant seals. They were lying on the beach and were even covering themselves with the warm sand. Some were 'fighting' in the water and they made the weirdest sounds!

Camp at Pismo Beach!

We all enjoyed the pool. The little girls have turned in to water rats, with Shantel eventually refusing to wear her paddle jumper.

Mum relaxing in her chair, Steve and Shantel making a sandcastle and Taleesha playing in the sand.

We enjoyed some early morning walks collecting sand dollars and other pretty shells.

And all too soon it was time to move on. We briefly stopped at Santa Barbara beach and then skirted around main Los Angeles to Orange. The next day we planned to go to Disneyland so we camped at a RV park just 3 miles away.

Palm trees lining the streets!

We arrived at Orange RV Park and even though it was late, the girls loved their swim!

And the next day we went to Disneyland! The two older girls went to California Adventure as they were more after the adult rides!

We hired a wheelchair for mum and it was the best thing! A lot of the rides had wheelchair access so we would line up there and get right on instead of waiting in the long lines that everyone else had to do!

The girls finally got their ride on the Carousel! Even we went on!

They loved the 20 minute Frozen show! It was really well done!

Fairy floss (cotton candy)

On the steamboat Mark Twain.

The ride through Toad Hall!

Steve and the two little girls are on this train somewhere. It flew past that fast, it was the best I could do!!

The day ended with a bang as we watched the fireworks from the comfort of the RV while we waited for the older girls to get back at the arranged time of 10pm. It was a great day and the girls really got into the swing of going on the rides. Their only complaint was the rides weren't scary enough!

That night we camped at a church close by and then went into the heart of LA in search of the Hollywood sign and driving the Sunset strip!

Our new driver!

It was then onto the San Diego where we planned to stay at Gerrit and Nanda Groenewold's in Ramona for the weekend.

We arrived just after 6pm, met the family and shared a delicious dinner and dessert. It was good to catchup. We knew Nanda some 25 years ago being the sister of a good friend in Australia.

Sunday morning we had fellowship with the OPC followed by a communal luncheon. There was plenty of food and it was nice meeting the believers there.

We intended to go to the URC in Escondido which started at 6pm so we headed to Lake Dixon nearby and relaxed near the lake in between services.

After church we headed back to our hosts.

Clair teaching Anthea the tricks of the Rubrik cube!

Toys! The girls loved playing with different toys!

Remi was very interested in the RV. He spent lots of time dreaming of living and traveling in one!

We really enjoyed our time with the Groenewolds and enjoyed their hospitality. All too soon it was time to move on.

Our next destination was San Diego. We camped at Mission Bay RV park for two nights and enjoyed biking and walking in the sunset.

The next day we went to Sea World!

We hired a wheelchair again and checked out the animal shows.

The performing killer whales. They had a whale of a time getting us wet as we were sitting in the 'soak zone'!

After a long day out, we had a delicious dinner at Denny's.

We had a great day out and after a good night's sleep, we headed north east toward Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. However, that will be next installment! Watch this space!

Thanks for looking!
