Well, week 5 is over and gone! Shantel attended kindergarten again on Friday and enjoyed her day! On Saturday was the soccer carnival for LYS (Lynden Youth Sports) and where Jaclyn and Stefan play on Saturdays. The carnival was a first, thanks to the Aussie influences! Some ex-Aussies were put in charge of organising the stalls and they did well. They raised $800 after costs with all proceeds going to the school. There was face-painting, bouncy castles, food stalls, candy treasure hunt, etc. Shantel and Taleesha had their hair braided by Kristi Kuik and her crew. Don't they look nice? Pity it didn't stay in long enough for Sunday!

We then took the two little girls and headed down to Seattle way (over two hours drive) to view a second car for Steve and a motorhome. More to come on that later. We didn't come home till 8:30pm and stopped past Maccas for dinner. Of course, the indoor toys were a whole lot more interesting than the food.
On Sunday, we had Rev Wielenga in the morning on a continuation of Cain, and then headed to Jon and Janice Dykstra for coffee and lunch. Jon is the editor of the Reformed Perspective and Janice is a younger sister of Bernice Vreugdenhil. We are starting the learn who is related to who which is quite a few!
In the afternoon we had Rev Abel Pol who married Rose Vermeulen. We then visited with Bob and Debbie Johnson. We learnt that Debbie went to teachers college with Elaine vandenbos (where Anthea is boarding!). She came to Australia about 10 years ago. They have three girls and their pet is Stripey, the hampster! Taleesha was fascinated.

Tuesday is Taleesha's 3rd birthday and Shantel is about as excited as Taleesha!
It's actually Rev. Pol.
ReplyDeleteTaleesha sure did love that hamster. Perhaps a pet in your future?
Oops thanks Debbie! We'll see how much she talks about it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Taleesha!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are all settling in well and making the most of every moment.
Best wishes from the R and N Oldes xx
