Our Easter concert was on the last day of the term, April 2. The grades k-8 were involved as well as an adult choir which included both Steve and myself. We sang a beautiful selection of songs (some we'd never heard of!) under the baton on our very capable (cousin) conductor Mrs Hester Schouten!
The following morning around 7:30am we left for our holiday. After traveling some 6 hours with a few stops we arrived in Oregon at the Milo McIver State Park. It was raining but we set up and awaited the arrival of the V's who were just an hour or so behind us. Stefan travelled with them and we had Elissa. And funny enough, Anthea was travelling to Portland for the weekend with two friends. At one point, I managed to get on the map all three of us traveling along the I5.
Here's the girls playing while we're traveling.
At the campsite in the state park
Saturday was a nice day. The sun came out so in the morning Bernice and I did a bit of biking and ended up at the salmon hatchery. Quite an interesting setup!
This tank had small salmon and they were jumping up at the water pouring out the pipes.
In the afternoon, we all crowded in the RV and headed off to Multnomah Falls about an hour away. These falls are apparently one of the highest falls which flow all year round.
We climbed to the top with a total of 11 switchbacks and here is the top looking back down!
This is taken from the top which is the stream leading to the falls!
The kids happily held hands with 'Granny' and 'Grandad'!
And they even need a rest at the half way point going down!!
Always one in the bunch who doesn't want to face the camera!
Back at the campsite and marshmallows over the campfire!
Ah....yummy and sticky too!
With Shantel reading so well nowadays....Taleesha benefits!
Sunday evening communal meal in our RV!
Stefan's never far away from the food!
After dinner we went for a walk; it was spitting a bit so we needed umbrellas. Steve had a single and Marvin and Bernice had a double :)!! So cute!
Monday morning we left the state park and headed out to Kahneeta. Going through the pass on Mt Hood it had snowed overnight and was snowing lightly as we were going through.
Yay, we finally arrived at Kahneeta!
Enjoying the sunshine!
Badminton
Taleesha learnt to ride without training wheels. We could see she wasn't relying on them much when she was cycling, so we convinced her to take them off and see how it goes. She just hopped on and took off. Didn't even need to practice!
On Wednesday morning Rick and Janice arrived with their kids.
Look at those bubbles!
Shantel went with Steve for a hike to the top of one of the hills and here is the view!
We are camped right in the centre of this pic! Can you spot the teepee's?
And another view from another hill. Our setup is near the red tree!
Horseriding!
Playing barn animals!
Enjoying a game of golf!
The last night we had a meal with all the three families!
Campfires and s'mores! Can't have one without the other....!
Taleesha, Janice and Cassie!
And all too soon, it was time to go home. We left on Friday morning at 7:00am and arrived back home at 3:30pm.
We had a wonderful time away. It was relaxing and refreshing. We could enjoy time with friends, play golf, go horse riding, go swimming, enjoy the campfire at night and the smoke that goes with it!
Above all, we thank our Father for His traveling mercies and the opportunity for some time away.
Now the final 9 weeks of the school year. Still lots to happen before that! DV Jaclyn hopes to present her senior project and also graduate, Steve's mum is busy preparing to come and visit us for a number of months and of course, two birthdays (Jaclyn and Stefan) in the next week.
We are enjoying good health and trust you are experiencing the same whichever corner of the globe you are in.
Thanks for popping past!
