We've had a glorious fall and the weather has been just beautiful! The colours of the leaves are just amazing. Now, what I never knew was, why the leaves changed colour! Never really thought about it I guess! I recently picked up a book from the secondhand store about the seasons of the year and we read the 'Fall' chapter. And it explained that normally the leaves are green because they are filled with chlorophyl (which is green) and this in turn makes food for the trees with the sunshine. But in fall and winter, just as some animals hibernate, trees do the same, so the chlorophyl disappears and all the red, yellow and orange colours in the leaves show up because the green isn't there to hide them anymore. Another amazing facet in God's creation. Enjoy!

Oh, that's Megan and Alex in Ontario! You were meant to look at the leaves! |
That's it folks!
Hi Steve and Fiona
ReplyDeleteLanded on your blog via Facebook the other day and really enjoyed catching up with your adventures! It struck me that here you are, uprooted your family from one part of the world, and moved to another part and feel so much at home in the community there. It's a practical manifestation of Gods Catholic Church.... His people are the same through out the earth! Awesome!
Loved the comment about the leaves. You've solved a mystery for me, as I've wondered about that. Now I'm wondering why it happens on that part of the earth and not here. :)
All the best...

Hi Joanne, I thought I might have been the only one that didn't know that fact, but obviously not! Maybe we don't think about it too much because it's not that vibrant in Aus. Sure is amazing re: church community! All the best, Fiona

Thanks for all the pictures, espescially of your house! It looks very gezellig!!
Wishing you all the best, Petrie
PS about the trees... I think it has a lot to do with the fact that we have totally different trees here. Why...? that is another question. But I do LOVE the pictures of the leaves, reminds me a lot of Holland :)
