Mum's birthday and League Day, Dine and Dash, and Shantel's birthday!

Now that school's over, routines are a bit more relaxed. Mum has been busy though! Below she can be seen visiting Mrs Bosscher, who is a sister to Mrs Kobes in Fair Haven. Anyone from the Metro see it? They had an enjoyable visit!

Then on June 17 it was Mum's birthday!

Bacon and eggs for breakfast!

It was also League Day which was convened in Lynden WA!  A little birdie had informed the organizers there was a letter all the way from the League Committee in Australia which Mum read to the audience. It was well received! But before she could return to her seat, we all sang 'Happy Birthday'!

The topic for the day was "Time Management" with a Christian perspective. Very timely and interesting!

Lunch was held in the gym.

Even Michelle Obama popped in for a visit, even though about 50% of the participants were Canadians!

At the conclusion, refreshments were held on the front lawn. The weather was just gorgeous as you can see!

The beautiful flowers lining Front Street in Lynden

In the evening, we had some relatives and friends come over for a visit!

Uncle Herman and Bill : no, they are not sleeping!

The following day we headed up Mt Baker along with two neighbor-across-the-field kids. We stopped at Nooksack Falls along the way. Still plenty of water rushing over the falls!

Just before the top, we stopped at the picnic area for lunch!

A little chipmunk

At Artist Point. The snow is the lowest it's been for over 30 years. Normally Artist Point doesn't open till July/August. This year it was already open in April!

A beautiful shot of the mountain reflected on Picture Lake

And in the evening, we went to Bob's Burger in Sumas for dinner! Great times!

On Friday was Dine and Dash! At our appetizers location, Mum met Clarence and Kelli Kobes, also relatives to the Kobes' in the metro!

Dinner at Marty and Faith's!

Over the weekend, we also met up with Royce V and his son, who delivered a letter from Sharleigh who was in Shantel's preprimary class. So, Shantel wrote a letter back! Very special!

And on Tuesday, 23rd was Shantel's 7th birthday!

She didn't have a party this year, but was allowed one friend over for a sleepover! And two neighbors kids came as well as Mum and Tante Fien!

Making Fruit Loop necklaces!

Putting together a playmobil set!

Playing with water!

Steve making the most of a lazy day!

Shantel's dinner choice was MacDonalds!

And from there we headed to Darryn and Bea's to meet Russell and Carla and their family! Shantel met Amylie who was also in her Preprimary class back in Australia!

Well, that's it for this update! We've had glorious weather during the day with cool nights. Mum is now in Abbotsford staying with relatives there. Unfortunately we can cross the border due to the expiration of our visas and waiting (un) patiently for them to be renewed.

Thanks for looking!

Jaclyn's Graduation!

Another update already!

This week, Jaclyn along with her class went to Oregon and enjoyed some beautiful weather and a relaxing time with her classmates. Steve, Anthea and the 7/8 class went to Mt St Helens also for a few days. They too had a wonderful time and and even saw the top of the mountain, which is quite rare.

During the time they were away, Mum had a coffee morning with some ladies in the congregation. The weather has been just beautiful and mum makes the most of it; she's outside for a good part of the day, nearly everyday!

And then Friday! It started with an end of year assembly in the gym, then the year 12 graduation in the evening. We had a dinner for the parents and students and board members in the gym.

Immediately after the dinner, we headed to the church for the graduation ceremony. With 15 students graduating, the church was packed including chairs in the foyer, and then standing room only! After the formalities and speeches, the students received their diplomas. Very special when it was Jaclyn's turn! A very proud parent moment!

After the ceremony, was the coffee and refreshments in the gym again. And then there was the after grad party at one of the graduates home. The grad students had a sleep over and had a final breakfast together.

And their pictures in the local newspaper!

We are thankful for the 12 years of Christian education Jaclyn could receive, both here and in Australia. We thank God for the dedication, determination and persistence she put into her school work. It certainly paid off and she received an excellent report card and a high GPA.

Saturday night was the staff get together. We had beautiful weather, good food and and very pleasant atmosphere!

So there you have it! Short and brief! We are now enjoying vacation and the weather is looking good for the next week or so!
